Oh, how I love the BLUES! And we continue our Black Music Month celebration I am excited to share some of my favorite Blues artists with you. It might be fair to say that we have current day Blues artists that are very talented. However, my heart is faithful to the past. I love ‘old school Blues’!
And talk about colorful lives! I try hard to invest all I can into each day, so when I lay my head down at night, I do not have any regrets. These folks lived and loved – HARD! I present to you:
Robert Johnson: Who has had rumors around his spirit for years that he sold his soul to the devil;
Julie Lee : who is every bit sassy, classy and BLUE! Not as in sad, as in what the call “Dirty Blues“. Many of the lyrics ‘back in the day” were let’s say “fresh!”; and last, but not least
Little Walter: Little Walter was profiled in the movie Cadillac Records, he led a hard life, and at the same time, he was the type you just wanted to protect and fix a meal for. He’s like the hot mess uncle in the family – who might work our nerves from the trouble he finds himself in, but we love and want to be safe just the same.
Happy Blues Monday to you! Enjoy!
